Mr. Mir Ishfaq is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Warangal, India. He holds a PhD from IIT Bombay and previously served as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Bombay and Project Executive Officer at IIT Kanpur. His research focuses on steelmaking, materials thermodynamics, extractive metallurgy, and hydrometallurgy, with notable contributions to high-aluminium steels and inclusion engineering. He introduced the concept of “Exclusions,” a newly identified surface phenomenon during solidification, Steel Metallurgy and developed advanced methodologies for quantifying insoluble oxygen. His work has gained international recognition through journal publications, conference presentations, and the ASM Student Contest Award.
